Today, CHA was all about classes for me. I took the train to the Convention Center + a 0.5 mile walk this morning. Grand plans to have breakfast were thwarted by my desire to sleep in. It was nice!!!
After fabulous classes, a designer roundtable, and the Tastes of Rosemont event (which was yummmmmmmmmm-EEEEE!) I went on a little adventure in Chicago with Karen Taylor and Sarah Mullanix! We had a blast!!!
The first part of the adventure was trying to find Karen's car. Chicago is a labyrinth of loops and circles and mysterious roadways and the parking structure was no exception.
Dude, where's Karen's car?!
As we were trying to find the car, we saw tons of planes departing from O'Hare flying CRAZY close to the hotels next door. YIKES!
After we found the car and were able to get out of the labyrinth, I mean, parking structure, set out to find a scrapbook store. Craft Fancy was open and just a few miles away--sweet!!!
The store was super cute and the staff really nice. Apparently Donna Downey is teaching there later this week. It was so fun to stop in and hang out for a moment.I got some great Pink Paislee Chalkboard labels I had been wanting. We got a couple other things and then headed off on our next adventure.
On a quest to find a mythical waterfront bar, we set out east towards Lake Michigan. There were alot of white knuckle moments, missed turns, and ah-ha moments!
I missed Betsy Burnett's "Hungarian Grandmother" on her TomTom navigation system (who I "met" yesterday)--google maps got us crazy lost!! Karen, quit blaming Missouri for your crazy driving! LOL We had quite a wild and fun ride!!!! Chicago roads and drivers make LA look like a cake walk! It was serious business out there.
Somehow I think we ended up in Oprah's neighborhood...the closer we got to the water the bigger and more extravagant the homes got. Homes in California could not hold a candle to the behemoth mansions we saw! They were gorgeous!! We had to literally stop the car in awe of this Bahai Faith church in the middle of it all--wow!
A drive through the Northwestern University campus finally landed us in Andersonville at Reza's Persian restaurant.
The food was yummy and the price right on the money!! I had the Roasted Feta--mmmm! And on my diet to boot! After much chatting, laughing and eating, we headed "home" towards O'Hare and the Convention Center. Ahhh, it was a wonderful day. I cannot wait to see what Tuesday brings!!
